Steedman & Company Attend UK Tax Investigation Conference
HMRC chief Dave Hartnett was amongst a host of guest speakers at last Fridays UK Tax conference, which was attended by Steedman & Company’s Ricky Steedman.
The Professional Fee Protection (PFP) organised event was held for a select number of delegates, with a number of topical tax subjects being debated.
Topics discussed included the tax office’s current strategy to small and medium sized enterprises and how accountancy firms can best defend clients who are facing overly aggressive treatment from HMRC.
Hartnett faced a number of probing questions from delegates who are unhappy at the performance of HMRC.
Failure to reply to letters in a reasonable time, poor advice given by HMRC advisors and a failure to process partnership tax references were some of the criticisms Hartnett was faced with.
