Reduced Rates Scheme Benefits Record Number of Scottish Businesses
89,087 Scottish businesses have benefited from the Small Business Bonus Scheme (SBBS) in the past year, according to new Government data.
The scheme provides non domestic business rates discount for small Scottish businesses. Last year, 85, 199 took up the scheme last year, meaning there has an increase of over 4,000 this year.
The maximum saving a business can save per year is £4,260, with the average being £1,536. The total value of the saving for the year was £144 million, up from last year’s figure of £131 million.
The Federation for Small Business’s spokesman, Andy Wilcox said: “The financial crisis and the spirally cost of fuel and utilities have put real pressure on country’s army of small firms. This rates relief scheme has given tens of thousands of our smallest firms an inch of breathing space.”

Ricky led all tax investigation and COP 9 cases, using his extensive knowledge to help people reach a positive resolution to their situation.
Ricky passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June 2022 after leaving his indelible mark on the company he founded and headed for over 35 years.
