Holiday Entitlement
H
oliday entitlement – technically known as statutory leave entitlement or annual leave – is the legal right of employees to take paid holidays. Sole traders are not entitled to annual leave and must arrange their holidays differently.
Most full time workers who work 5 days a week are required by law to get 28 days’ paid holiday a year. Part-time staff are also allowed the same entitlement even though this can work out as less days overall.
We can help you understand the requirements of an employer to help get holiday entitlement right for you and your employees. You need to be aware of factors such as the right of staff to build up holidays while off sick, accruing holidays during maternity, paternity and adoption leave and what to do if there are any disputes.
I switched to Steedman & Company two years into running my own business as I was suffering from some common new business issues, e.g. credit control, and I liked their no-nonsense approach to tackling problems. They’ve been vital in turning my business into a success and are always one step ahead of me.
